The angel funding round saw participation from investors, including Rohan Bhargava, co-founder of CashKaro; Saurabh Gupta, CEO and co-founder of UrbanPiper; Shashank Bijapur, founder of SpotDraft; and Rajneil Kamath, formerly of Google and NC Media.

Other investors include Harikrishnan M of DMart, Sridhar V of Microsoft, and Rajat Jain of Think Wealth.

The retailer’s new wine collection, The Collective Good, is now available in nearly 1,200 stores nationwide—just in time for Earth Month.

Mars, Inc. has partnered with Berry Global to transition the pantry jars for its M&M’s, Skittles, and Starburst confectionery brands to 100% recycled plastic packaging, exclusive of jar lids. Says Berry, this achievement advances the ongoing collaboration between itself and Mars to develop packaging made with recycled content, and builds on a previous launch of the pantry jars with 15% recycled plastic in 2022. The updated jars are now rolling out across the country.

Inspired by paperboard cups, Metsä Board’s packaging design team developed the new paperboard mug with a heat-sealed transparent plastic film that keeps the liquorice fresh. Once opened, the reclosable paperboard cover effectively preserves the liquorice.

In a significant leap toward sustainable food safety, a research team from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has developed an innovative intelligent food packaging film made entirely from natural, biodegradable materials.

Led by Prof. Preetam Sarkar, an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Process Engineering, the team designed the packaging to monitor seafood freshness in real time by detecting pH changes. This practical advancement could curb food waste and improve consumer safety.

This new paper-based packaging maintains the unbeatable M&S quality of the product and can be more easily recycled, kerbside and on the go. This change on this popular bar would remove 1.4 million units of plastic from M&S’ Foodhall over the next 12 months. If successful, the retailer plans to roll this packaging out more widely to additional bars in the range, removing a further 5 million units of plastic.
