Ocado extends Reuse range to laundry essentials

08 Dec 2024
PC Correspondent

From today (28 October), customers at the supermarket will be able to purchase Ocado’s Reuse Non-Bio Liquid Detergent (2.7L) and Reuse Clear Skies Fabric Conditioner (2.7l).

The Reuse range is part of the Refill Coalition’s work to develop reusable packaging solutions, in an effort to reduce the use of single-use packaging from customers’ weekly shops.

The addition of laundry essentials follows the launch of pasta and rice in reusable packaging in August, which the grocer said has been “extremely successful with customers”.

Keep Scotland Beautiful rolls out recycling of on-the-go packaging awareness campaign

06 Dec 2024
PC Correspondent

Keep Scotland Beautiful’s research shows consumers often chose to dispose of their waste in the first bin found, rather than recycle it or litter it.

Working with Strathclyde University, the ‘No lectures: sort it and recycle it’ campaign is designed to test different messages (both emotional and educational), as well as incentives, to understand what lever drives the greatest behaviour change among students and, ultimately, the highest increase in recycling rates.

Korozo Group and Borealis collaborate to create laundry detergent packaging that is designed to be recycled

05 Dec 2024
PC Correspondent

This project has seen the creation of mono-material films that initially feature 30% PCR. The PCR content was supplied by Ecoplast, a member of the Borealis Group. Borealis is one of the world’s leading providers of advanced and sustainable polyolefin solutions. The polymers were in turn extruded by Korozo into mono-material constructions for Henkel’s laundry detergents, such as Persil. Printing and converting of the packaging were carried out by Korozo on its high-end presses and pouchmaking lines. Products sold in these packs are already on shelves in Central Eastern Europe.

The high-end firm has teamed up with foil maker Amcor Capsules on the plastic-free hood for its premium champagne products. Made of aluminium and paper, the move comes as Moët & Chandon moves to more sustainable packaging.

The foil, created using paper made in Europe, has a carbon impact 31% lower than standard complex foils, says the champagne maker.

It contains around 60% aluminium, which – as well as being recyclable – retains the brand’s aesthetic properties.
