In a presidential decree published in the Jornal de Angola, João Lourenço explained that there are "worrying levels of pollution resulting from the use of plastic in general".

To hasten the fight against plastic wastes president  Lourenço has established a working group to draft a national plan to ban plastic.

The text specifies that the working group will initially be responsible for carrying out a national diagnosis to "measure the state of pollution" in the country.

The agreement was signed at Udyog Bhawan and the project titled is “Designing innovative and sustainable packaging as a branding initiative for handicrafts and handloom sector of Jammu.”

The MoU document was signed by Dr Vikas Gupta, Director of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu, and Dr Javid Ahmed Wani, Director National Institute of Fashion Technology, Srinagar.

Food company Mars Petcare recently announced a packaging recycling initiative in the Philippines as part of its global efforts to create a circular economy for plastic packaging where it doesn’t become waste. The collaboration with Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) and retailer Pet Express is called “Fur The Best,” which is an extension of the “SWAP Recycling” initiative from Thailand that will enable the collection and recycling of mixed post-consumer flexible plastic packaging waste into useful products.

Cruz Foam, Santa Cruz, California has announced the launch of a new family of protective packaging products it says can meet specific customer needs for shipping fragile and temperature-sensitive goods for consumers and businesses. The company claims its patented compostable foam outperforms equivalent plastic-based products and exceeds current industry standards for sustainability.

Nestlé has apologised after customers complained of a shortage of popular coffee product Coffee-Mate. The firm said it was working to resolve manufacturing issues around the non-dairy creamer which means it has been absent from some supermarket shelves.

Described by Nestlé as "the perfect partner to coffee", the creamer is said to make coffee richer, smoother. It is used by some as an alternative to milk and comes in flavours including vanilla, chocolate and crème brûlée.

Refillable and reusable packaging is a growing trend in the Consumer Packaged Goods space, both for direct-to-consumer companies and for those large brands primarily selling their products at retail. Thus far, many of these products have followed the Refill-at-home model, with the majority comprising products in the household cleaning and personal care markets.
