Nestlé has apologised after customers complained of a shortage of popular coffee product Coffee-Mate. The firm said it was working to resolve manufacturing issues around the non-dairy creamer which means it has been absent from some supermarket shelves.
Described by Nestlé as "the perfect partner to coffee", the creamer is said to make coffee richer, smoother. It is used by some as an alternative to milk and comes in flavours including vanilla, chocolate and crème brûlée.
Nestlé said the shortage is due to a change in packing. It said the switch was to make it more eco friendly - leading to "production challenges", In Your Area reports.
A spokesperson said: “We have taken the positive step to move our packaging to be fully recyclable but we’re currently encountering some production challenges. We are working very hard to resolve these issues as soon as possible. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."
Last October The Grocer reported that Coffee-Mate packs have been shrunk as prices soar. It said the old 500g packs have been swapped for new 450g ones.
