Its founder, Solveiga Pakštaitė, primarily wanted to develop a bottle cap that would give people with impaired vision information about the shelf life of the product. As a rule, such info is only printed on the packaging and thus cannot be recognised by visually impaired people.

Circular Economy

Even if you have only a nodding acquaintance with the range of topics surrounding sustainability in industry, you will have come across this term: the circular economy. Although this model may be remarkably simple, it is also all-encompassing.

AIMPLAS, participates in a new European project bringing to the market high-quality polyester textile products from the valorization of CO₂ waste streams. Threading-CO₂ aims to scale up and demonstrate its first-of-its-kind technology producing high-quality commercially viable sustainable PET textile products from CO₂ waste streams at an industrial scale. The overall objective of this research is to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the textile industry, using a circular manufacturing approach and running on renewable energy sources.

Can the liquid packaging industry — a frequent target of environmentalists — find a path to sustainability that’s also economically viable? Andrew Meyer, CEO of liquid packaging solution AeroFlexx, says the answer must be yes. “We have always had an obligation to society and future generations to do our part,” he says. “Now, we have the technology to build a sustainable future.”

Sponsored by Sen. Trey Paradee, Senate Bill 57 would bar restaurants from serving ready-to-eat food in containers made from polystyrene, a non-biodegradable and potentially carcinogenic petroleum product best known by the brand name Styrofoam, starting on July 1, 2025. 

The bill would further prohibit food establishments in Delaware from providing single-use plastic straws unless requested by a consumer, while also banning single-use plastic coffee stirrers, cocktail picks and sandwich picks.
