The system produces transparent flexible packaging that reduces wall thickness by 15% compared to other injection moulded containers – optimizing the weight of the pack and the amount of raw material needed to produce it.

Initial industrial tests have reportedly achieved high performance and efficient energy use by reducing the injection cycle by up to 10%. Up to 30% recycled food-grade PET can be utilized, the company continues – helping customers align with legislation across Europe.

Novolex®, a leader in packaging choice, innovation and sustainability, is introducing food packaging containers that are both recyclable and made with a minimum 10% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.

Manufactured by Novolex brand Waddington® North America (WNA), the new products include various sizes of dessert cups, tamper-evident containers, cake containers and bakery clamshells.

Historically, Heinz sauce bottles used a flexible silicone valve to deliver a consistent portion of sauce per squeeze, but this was -often challenging to recycle. Together with Berry Global Heinz has now switched to a mono-material cap, manufactured in PP. This means it meets requirements for recyclability. 

AeroFlexx, a novel packaging for liquids that combines the best attributes of flexibles and rigids to create a new-to-the-world package form using an “air frame” design, has logged several milestones since 2020. That’s when it snagged a starring role on the world’s packaging scene by earning the Flexible Packaging Association’s Highest Achievement Award judged “as contributing most to the advancement of the industry.”

Between at least November 2021 and the date of the undertaking, MOO claimed that its yoghurt tubs were made from ‘100% ocean plastic’, which the ACCC was concerned gave the impression they were made from plastic waste collected directly from the ocean, when this was not the case.

While MOO included disclaimers on the top and back of the packaging, the ACCC considered they were insufficient to overcome the headline representation of ‘100% ocean plastic’.

Adding to Berry’s extensive range of tube closures, the new Slimline range delivers greenhouse gas savings compared to traditional caps through a new lightweight and low-profile design. As one of the lightest solutions currently available on the market, the closures meet customer’s performance requirements and underline Berry’s commitment to minimise the use of virgin plastic.
