Tentoma Packaging Solutions has launched a new vacuum unit that effectively collects film snippets from their RoRo StretchPack® packaging machines. With the new vacuum unit, film snippets can be collected in any container that can be placed independently of the packaging machine. The vacuum unit ensures stable operation of the packaging line by efficiently removing excess film snippets, enabling high-speed wrapping.

The transformation of Crown Cork & Seal under William Avery's leadership represents one of the most significant periods of consolidation in packaging industry history. The company undertook a series of strategic acquisitions, most notably:
•    A major portion of Continental Can, making it a leading player in North America (1989-90)
•    CarnaudMetalbox (1996) - valued at $5.2 billion, this merger created one of the world's largest packaging companies at the time

Duracell’s iconic copper-topped batteries are hitting Walmart shelves in new packaging. Individual packs of batteries are now packaged in curbside recyclable, all-cartonboard, paper-blisters that replace the legacy format of thermoformed plastic blisters affixed to cardstock backing.

Dole switching to paper-based packaging for Smoothie Bowl line

Dole Packaged Foods LLC, Thousand Oaks, California, recently announced a significant shift toward sustainable packaging.

Beginning this summer, the company says it will use paper-based materials for the packaging of its popular Smoothie Bowl line, adding that the new packaging design eliminates 97 percent of plastic packaging across the entire product lineup, which includes Acai Original, Acai Protein, Mango Gets Mangosteen and Strawberry Meets Aronia flavors.

No more plastic rings. Philly Coca-Cola bottler turns to paperboard packaging

The bottle might still be plastic, but the carrier is no long made of plastic if it comes from a Philadelphia bottler.

Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages unveiled new recyclable paperboard carriers for multipack drinks during an event at the distributor's Juniata Park facility Wednesday, May 29, 2024. By turning to the more sustainable paperboard, Liberty says it will save an estimated 200,000 pounds of plastic rings each year.

COP29 concluded in Baku, Azerbaijan, encouraging dialogue on the progress in global climate efforts. Below is a summary of the conference's key outcomes and agreements.

1. Enhanced Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)

Countries pledged updated and more ambitious emissions reduction targets. COP29 focused on ensuring these targets align with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Nations are now required to submit detailed Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) to track progress against their commitments, fostering greater accountability.
