Fast food chains have revolutionised the way we eat. Order a quick meal, get it packed and finish it off in no time. However, this entire process generates a lot of waste material that is harmful for the environment and the planet too. Single-use plastic straws, small cardboard boxes and more are used to serve fast food to millions of people across the world. What if there was a way to save on this waste generation with a simple solution? Burger chain McDonald's has come with a reusable packaging for its customers in France.

Beverages major Coca-Cola India has partnered with grocery delivery service, Zepto, for a ‘return and recycle’ initiative for PET bottles. According to a joint statement, the initiative seeks to establish an organized process of collection of PET bottles with 100 per cent traceability, to ensure effective plastic waste management.

Smurfit Kappa has created an innovative and sustainable packaging solution specifically tailored for wine, to help businesses in the sector capitalise on the continued growth in eCommerce wine sales.

The new solution holds Amazon’s ‘Frustration-Free Packaging’ (FFP) certification, which is a world first for a generic packaging solution that caters for different case counts and wine bottle types.

The multinational manufacturer is giving the iconic confectionary brand a revitalised identity by collaborating with brand expression agency Taxi Studio.

The packaging redesign is being put in place to reinforce Celebrations as a treat choice for the whole year round – not just for Christmas.

Taxi Studio believes the label struggled to retain relevancy in a market that has become increasingly crowded.

Overshadowed by constituent brands, the design team saw the need to bring Celebrations into its own unique identity to drive more equity into the brand.

Malta follows the other 12 EU countries that have introduced DRS as a tool to significantly reduce littering and increase the collection and recycling rates of single-use beverage containers. The deposit return scheme in Malta is operated by BCRS Malta Ltd., the licensed, not-for-profit private operator of the national Beverage Container Refund Scheme. The organization was incorporated by associations of beverage container producers, importers, and retailers to assume collective extended producer responsibility on their behalf.
