A unique combination of plastic and cardboard gives you packaging with the best of both worlds in one solution: The outer part is made of cardboard, providing light barrier protection and ensuring a lightweight pack. The inner part consists of a thermoformed plastic sheet, protecting the edible content and making the pack grease resistant.

Darnley’s Gin unveils gin in recyclable pouches

The refill pouches, which can be returned to the brand’s headquarters for recycling, are available in 70cl for each of the Darnley’s Gin Original, Spiced Gin & Navy Strength products. According to the company, the pouches derives from recycled plastic material (grade 7), “which is not only recycled but also weighs 50% less than a glass bottle of Darnley’s Gin to transport”.

Union Cabinet approves mandatory packaging norms for Jute year 2022-23

“The mandatory norms provide for full reservation for packaging of foodgrains and 20% reservation for packaging of sugar in jute bags, which will be a big boost for West Bengal," the Ministry of Textiles said in a statement.

The jute industry occupies an important place in the national economy of India, particularly in West Bengal where nearly 75 jute mills operate and provide livelihood to lakhs of people. It will support 40 lakh farm families.

Huhtamaki has acquired full ownership of Huhtamaki Tailored Packaging Pty Ltd (HTP), the Australian foodservice packaging distribution and wholesale group.

HTP employs more than 130 people and is today one of the largest importers and distributors of foodservice packaging in Australia serving a wide network of customers including metropolitan and regional packaging wholesalers, food wholesalers, club and hospitality suppliers, and national quick service restaurant businesses.

Pactiv Evergreen and AmSty team up on circular packaging

AmSty is a North American polystyrene manufacturer that specialises in circular recycling. The products on offer will be made with AmSty’s post-consumer recycled material derived from its recycling technologies.

Based on a mass-balance approach, certain Pactiv Evergreen packaging will use AmSty’s ISCC PLUS-certified recycled polystyrene. According to the company, “ISCC PLUS is an internationally recognised certification process for circular content, which audits the supply chain from end-to-end”.

Greiner Packaging receives certification for home-compostable capsule packaging

Capsules made of aluminum or plastic are suitable for a wide range of packaging applications, including for coffee, tea, and baby food. To improve their environmental footprint, Greiner Packaging has developed a solution made from a compostable polymer, so that customers can easily dispose of used capsules on their own backyard compost heaps. The capsules are now certified by TÜV Austria Belgium NV.
