Hotpack Global, the UAE-based global leader in food packaging products, has announced its plan to build one of the world’s largest sustainable packaging plants at an estimated investment of SAR 1 billion in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this investment with the Kingdom’s Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, respectively.

The company has introduced refillable milk bottles made from 100% polypropylene, a move aimed at reducing carbon emissions and minimizing single-use plastic waste.

While glass is traditionally considered the standard material for refillable milk bottles due to its cost-effectiveness and ease of sterilization, glass bottles are heavy and prone to breakage.

Abel & Cole’s Club Zero Refillable Milk bottles offer a sustainable alternative that overcomes these challenges.

Accelstyle 100 and Accelstyle 200 both have high abrasion resistance for conventional two-piece aluminum beer and beverage cans and can be seamlessly introduced into existing production processes.

AkzoNobel said this allows can makers to transition to coatings that are free from materials of concern and remain as commercially viable as possible.

Accelstyle 100, matches the performance of AkzoNobel’s standard polyester OPV with excellent can line mobility and pasteurization performance, as well as resistance to necker tooling line pick up.

Valio will now package all Valio PROfeel quark products in recyclable paperboard cups. The change will result in 143 tonnes less plastic being used. According to Valio, this commitment contributes to the national target for a reduction in single-use, single-serving plastic packaging.  

The company reports that it has “significantly reduced” the amount of plastic in its packaging for many years, for example by eliminating detachable lids/caps, plastic spoons and straws from single-serving packages and by using thinner plastic in its packaging. 

The release coincides with a national promotion offering consumers a chance to win $1,000 in cash and other goodies. The limited edition Babybels featuring Disney characters will be available in major retail stores around Australia from now until December 6.
