Paulig has been investing in new packaging lines at CarbonNeutral® certified Vuosaari Roastery. Starting from this spring, one third of 500-gram coffee packaging units will be produced on a new line at the roastery. Coffee packages that are manufactured on the new packaging line are easy to open without scissors as before. In addition, the new, longer resealing tape helps to reseal the coffee packaging.

Recyclable coffee packing supports Paulig's goal to have all packaging recyclable by the end of 2025.

DS Group’s Packaging unit, in collaboration with Uma Polymers, has unveiled two pioneering projects aimed at promoting sustainability and community development: Project Mogra Kala and Project Craft Kala. These initiatives underscore the Group’s commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility as it approaches its 95th anniversary.

Food and beverage packaging manufacturer Pactiv Evergreen Inc., Lake Forest, Illinois, has launched Recycleware reduced-density polypropylene (RDPP) meat trays. The company says its new product is meant to serve as a solution for packer processors seeking alternatives to foam polystyrene (PS).

Ali says: “Recently, many exporters have felt the strain of packaging costs, as these are passed on throughout the supply chain. For our part, this increase is attributed to increasing raw material prices and production expenses. Compared to last year, packaging costs in Egypt have risen by around 45%.” The manufacturer continues: “At FreshDeal, we’re doing our best to combat inflation by optimizing our supply chain, improving production efficiency, and exploring cost-effective, sustainable packaging options to keep prices as stable as possible.”

Reused tins are those that have already been used once and after consumption of the food item are discarded by the consumer and reused by some packers.
 

FDCA has ordered officials to identify such entities in their jurisdiction and take legal action. The FDCA’s directive is considered important because there is widespread reuse of tins for packaging food items, especially edible oil.

The move is expected to save around 57 tonnes of plastic annually.

It forms part of the supermarket’s target to reduce plastic packaging by 50% by 2025 and follows a switch to 100% recyclable cardboard packaging on all own-brand porridge pots last year.
