Schreiner MediPharm develops freeze-resistant label for pharmaceuticals

The novel Free-Lock label by Schreiner MediPharm consists of two components: a bottom label and a top label.

According to the company, the bottom label layer has a speciality microfibre surface texture that can be applied to the empty, non-refrigerated container at room temperature. This container can then be filled with the active agreement, such as medications for cell and gene therapies, and immediately cooled down for storage in dry ice at -78oC or liquid nitrogen at -196oC.

  • The cap is part of a new collaboration between Ella’s Kitchen, the UK’s number 1 baby food brand; SABIC, a global leader in the chemicals industry, and Gualapack, a world leader in pre-made flexible packaging solutions.

PepsiCo to trial recycled packaging for Walkers crisps

A PepsiCo spokesperson told letsrecycle.com that moving to mono-materials would make their crisp packets “easier to recycle”.

The company called on the government to speed up its timeline for flexible plastic like crisp packets to be mandated as part of kerbside recycling, saying they should be collected along with the rest of the core list of materials from 2023.

Quaker Oats undergoes packaging and logo change in India

PepsiCo’s packaged oats brand Quaker has revealed a new brand identity in the Indian market switching to a new logo representing the brand globally.

“For the first time since its launch in the country, the brand has changed its packaging design and adopted the new global logo. With ‘technology’ taking centre stage, the new-look Quaker Oats pack comes with a QR code for the digital-savvy consumers that gives easy access to Quaker’s Content Hub—a platform with a variety of nourishing and scrumptious oats recipes —on YouTube," PepsiCo India said in a statement Monday.

The new packaging features popular Applewood Fresh Michigan grown apples. The clear, resealable bags are available in 3 and 5 pounds and feature the apples riding in the back of The Produce Moms’ car filled with The Produce Moms’ characters.

The package design is not only eye-catching and adorable, it contains a call to action in the form of a QR code linked to an online treasure trove of curriculum perfect for distance learning, including activity sheets and the piéce de résistance; a virtual online field trip to a Michigan apple farm and production facility.

Geek Bar unveils new packaging to combat non-compliant products

The new packaging will distinguish the legitimacy of its products by emphasising the positioning of the security code, allowing both retailers and consumers to check the authenticity of the product.

The makeover also includes a new top-integrated seal, which will allow consumers to open the Geek Bar using a tear brace. Geek Bar has also replaced the certification and environmental protection information to emphasise the recyclable nature of the product.

Assembly Aid from recycled packaging material : AUDI's upcycling Project

A new pilot project being implemented at Audi’s Neckarsulm site, among other initiatives, highlights just how important the sustainable use of resources is to the company. At this location, Audi produces 3D-printed assembly aids for vehicle production – and as of recently, from waste that is generated right there on site. These assembly aids are not only made of recycled material, they also promote ergonomic and safe work processes and are tailored precisely to the requirements of the employees.

COVERIS LAUNCHES FULLY RECYCLABLE RICE PACKS FOR ALDI

Previously packed in a non-recyclable, OPP to PE mixed laminate, Aldi has switched to Coveris’ fully recyclable MonoFlexE monomaterial PE to PE laminate packaging for their own-brand Worldwide Foods 1kg basmati rice and 1kg brown rice SKUs. The move to MonoFlexE will enable circa. 30 tonnes of film to enter the soft plastic recycling stream annually. The MonoFlexE packaging launched in January 2022 for 50% of the two SKUs, with the remaining 50% to switch throughout January and February.
