During PACK EXPO, the company will showcase their two packaging technologies and its vast range of packaging products. Its booth will feature the patented Evanesce^® Molded Starch technology along with its high-quality line of PLA (Polylactic Acid) compostable products, including straws, hot and cold cups and lids, plates, bowls, cutlery, gloves, and resealable bags. Booth visitors will be able to meet the top executive team and experience their plant-based packaging solutions in person.

Morrisons has announced it will replace the plastic packaging from its bananas with paper bands, in a move that makes it the first supermarket to remove plastic banana packaging from all its stores.

The announcement follows a successful 12-week trial that saw two million plastic bags removed from bananas. Morrisons said it will now complete the switch to paper bands at all its stores over the next six months and as a result it expects to eliminate 45 million single-use plastic bags each year, the equivalent of removing 180 tonnes of plastic from stores annually.

In a bid to reduce single-use plastic, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with Acharya Nagarjuna University and Ecolastic Private Limited, launched environmentally safe packaging products made from natural and plant-based food-grade materials.

UK-based supermarket chain Waitrose is reintroducing its ten lines of food sharing platters with less packaging material after a full redesign.

The sandwich, roll and wrap sharing platters will now come in a cardboard base without an outer case or lid.

Waitrose has reduced the use of packaging in the products by 65% overall, saving 60% of single-use plastic from sandwiches and 40% single-use plastic on wraps.

The fully recyclable boxes and film are designed in a ready-to-serve format to make food sharing easy.
