Designed primarily as a thermoforming base web, Ecoflex® is formulated with premium PE polymers, offering good puncture resistance, improved tear resistance and it can be used for MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) or vacuum. Offering excellent clarity and printability, the material is perfect for meat, dairy and bakery thermoformed applications and has good recyclability throughout Europe.

Designed to be a drop-in replacement for conventional multi-material laminates, R-2000D’s unique performance characteristics allow it to run at high-speeds on form/fill/seal equipment.

The pressure from consumers, governments and associations to minimise the use of plastic increase and many brand owners and food producer put much effort into meeting those expectations and strengthening their environmental positioning. One example is Picard, the French food company specialising in frozen products, who has replaced a plastic tub for ice cream with a carton-based solution provided by AR Packaging.

Huhtamaki integrates APK’s LDPE- recyclate into laminated tubes

The polyethylene (PE) recyclate that facilitated this innovation is Mersalen®, produced by APK AG, Merseburg (Germany). APK’s solvent-based Newcycling® technology generates Mersalen® from complex polyethylene / polyamide multilayer film waste that is difficult for most conventional recycling processes to recycle. ‘The quality and purity of our LDPE recyclate shows properties close to virgin plastics and is suitable for a wide range of packaging applications’, says Florian Riedl, APK AG’s Director of Business Development.
