GreenPod Labs, an agri-biotech startup, has raised ₹ 4.05 crore (€ 500K) pre-seed round in a funding round led by Indian Angel Network (IAN) with Rockstart as a co investor. The Chennai-based startup aims to utilise the freshly infused investment to strengthen its R&D foundation and commercially scale product portfolio. The funding will also be directed towards expanding the R&D and operations team.

The new site, just a few miles away from our HQ in Telford, Shropshire, will also allow the company to invest further in eco-friendly packaging technologies.

It has added around 40,000 sq ft of manufacturing space in total.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “This is a hugely significant expansion in the history of Sirane. We needed additional manufacturing space to enable us to continue being at the forefront of packaging innovation.

American private equity (PE) firm Warburg Pincus on Monday said its affiliate Green Fin Investments BV has acquired a majority stake in Parksons Packaging Ltd, it said in a statement.

The company has installed a Kiefel KMD 78 that increases capacity but also enables companies the option of plastics and cartonboard hybrid packaging.

Nigel Coates, managing director of LVF Packaging, said: “2020 was a busy year for us, especially in terms of the higher volume lines that we produce for many of the supermarkets, and it was apparent that production efficiency on our oldest Kiefel – a KMD 75 – was falling well behind our newer KMD 78s and that the time had come to replace it.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

El Dorado manufactures customized paper-based packaging and printing solutions for retail and industrial markets. 

With three plant locations in Arkansas, Minnesota and Nebraska, El Dorado produces paper self-opening sacks, rollstock for consumer packaging and industrial multi-wall bags for food service, seed, animal health and chemical markets. 

The new business combination will leverage the combined capabilities of both businesses to provide one stop shopping for vertically integrated, sustainable solutions for the global flexible packaging market.
