Founded by Gabi Jennings in response to the disposable nature of products in the kids’ bath sector, Love Ocean aims to become a part of every family’s bath-time routine. The structure of the Love Ocean bottle, developed by Pearlfisher, aims to act as a talking point during bath time for parents to entertain their children with storytelling about the wonders of the ocean.

A high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin that offers significantly improved moisture barrier for multilayer flexible packaging and enables development of more recyclable polyethylene (PE) films has been introduced.

From Nova Chemicals,  the new resin — named Surpass HPs267-AB HDPE — is designed for blown-film applications. Nova reports that it delivers up to 20% an increase in water-vapor transmission performance in multilayer coextruded films vs. Nova’s best-in-class Surpass HPs167-AB resin.

This is one of the first sugarcane-based bottles to be produced commercially by Berry. The bottle is produced on Berry’s standard manufacturing line in a custom mold. “Sugarcane-based plastic bottles are one of the many sustainable packaging solutions offered by Berry Global and the bottles fit seamlessly into our manufacturing process,” says Josh Edmonson, Business Development Manager, Berry.

ALPLA has acquired a property in Toluca, capital city of the State of México in the country’s centre. Construction of a state-of-the-art recycling plant will commence on it in autumn 2020, with its launch planned for the second half of 2021. The amount invested is roughly 15 million euros and 65 jobs will be created. The company will be run as a 100-per-cent subsidiary of ALPLA, while the facility will have an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes of HDPE recycled material for non-food applications, for example for packaging solutions for personal care or household cleaning products.
