Subsidiary of the Südpack Group offers extensive service and broad portfolio for sterile medical packaging

Baar / Düsseldorf, 04 May 2017 – Südpack Medica AG is specialised in the controlled and certified manufacture of sterile medical packaging. At the main site in Baar (Switzerland), the production site in the French Coulmer and the manufacturing site in Ochsenhausen, the company offers film extrusion, sterile goods packaging and package printing along with a comprehensive range of services and testing facilities for customised packaging solutions.

Since its foundation in 2003, Südpack Medica AG sees itself as a system provider for sterile medical packaging. The subsidiary company does not solely manufacture films for markets in Western and Eastern Europe. It has also achieved first successes with products for the biopharmaceutical sector. In the ISO 7 and 8 certified clean rooms in the Coulmer location, packaging materials for use in the medical and pharmaceutical industry are produced according to the very latest safety standards. Thermoforming films are produced in Ochsenhausen. “Hygiene and precision in production are a must for us. That's why we produce sterile packaging in Coulmer under clean room conditions, guarantee continuous quality checks and work with our clients on improving products and optimizing them for their specific demands,” explains Ingo Schnellenbach, Managing Director at Südpack Medica.

When it comes to developing and choosing packaging solutions e.g. for blister lids, 3 sides sealed pouches or tubular bags, belonging to the Südpack Group has proved to be especially advantageous. Co-extruded materials from the film specialist are used, as are plastics and special medical paper from selected partners. The development and production team at Südpack Medica works out individual solutions which meet the high demands placed by the industry on process safety, product quality, processing, handling and sterilization.

Tests find the best packaging for the costumer

For the development of customised packaging solutions, the company's own technical centre for carrying out packaging and production tests is available at the Ochsenhausen location, the head office of the parent company. Together with its customers, the Medica team develops new packaging and systems and runs test series on all common packaging machines. Südpack Medica also holds training courses for customers and employees at its technical centre and carries out pre-tests on its own products. The application engineers for the medical unit have many years of experience with all packaging machines that are relevant for the market. They offer clients support during text runs at their site and in the technical centre. The testing facility for coextruded films multiXtrusion enables quick and cost-effective testing of new packaging on an industrial scale.
