selfadhesive films reliable covering of assembly components&nbsppeeloff without electrostatic discharge display protection film by schreiner protech protects electronic equipment&nbsp&nbspschreiner protech has developed a film solution to reliably protect displays of radios and navigation systems from external influences after their production and before they are installed in the vehicle. the special display protection film delivers dependable adhesion to the displays and prevents electrostatic discharge, which might damage the devices when the film is peeled off.&nbspprotection films cover assembly components during transportation, storage and the manufacturing process. they prevent devices from being damaged by scratching, dirt or the ingress of fluids through openings. the new display protection film by schreiner protech protects displays of radios and navigation systems and remains in place until the device is installed in the vehicle. while the film is applied to the display it has to resist various external influences such as temperature and humidity changes. at the time of installing the system, the film must be detachable without leaving any residues. &ldquoconsistency of tack force is crucial for these applications, as half a year may pass before the device is installed in the vehicle,&rdquo says annette barth, product manager for protection films at schreiner protech.&nbspduring the product development process different types of materials were tested in the laboratory to qualify a suitable film which, contrary to conventional adhesion films, only causes an extremely small amount of electrostatic discharge when detaching the film. &ldquowe achieved the best results with a selfadhesive, transparent, ultralight adhesion film,&rdquo adds barth. a voltage pulse is problematic particularly in the case of devices where the electronics sit directly behind the display such as in gps systems. this may lead to damage, and the device that has already been installed has to be exchanged in a complex and costly operation.&nbspfor high ease of use in the customer&rsquos process, the protection film is equipped with colored starter tabs. installation instructions, warnings or further information may be printed on the covers as well. additionally, security features for authenticity protection or customized features such as detachability of individual segments may be integrated. by offering this costeffective solution, schreiner protech protects the device from damage and the manufacturer from incurring high failure costs.
