German packaging companies see chances in the growth market of Indonesia

IndoPPP exhibition was a success
Jakarta, 7 – 10 September 2016 – “For German companies, the IndoPPP was the perfect platform to show their innovative solutions and services for the printing and packaging industry,” was the positive conclusion drawn by Devindran Chelliah, Regional Manager of the German exhibitor TKM Meyer at this industrial exhibition.

In addition to TKM, eleven other German companies of the packaging sector used this opportunity from 7 – 10 September 2016 in order to present themselves and their products in the growing Asian market. For that, the VDMA Printing and Paper Technology Association, supported by the German Foreign Trade Fair Programme of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, had organised a joint stand. “In the German Pavilion, we could exhibit under the most favourable conditions occupying an excellent position,” says Terence Ho, Sales Manager for the Southeast Asia Region of Contitech Print Service, stressing that he is very satisfied with the visitors` response and above all with the quality of the talks at the exhibition stand.

Established exhibition in the growth market of Southeast Asia
The organizers of the meanwhile tenth Indoplas / Indopack / Indoprint (IndoPPP) exhibition are Wahana Kemalaniaga Makmur (Wakeni) and Messe Düsseldorf Asia. It offers machinery and plant manufacturers, material suppliers and service providers from the plastics, packaging and printing sector a forum in the strongly growing packaging market of Indonesia. According to forecasts, both the plastics and the packaging sector will show two-digit annual growth rates until the end of the decade. The Indonesian printing industry posted sales of more than US$ 10 billion in 2015 and is expected to show a 6 percent annual growth through to 2018.

Therefore, the IndoPPP offers an interesting market environment, above all since it also attracts professional visitors from neighbouring countries. Considering that, many international companies used this exhibition in order to make new contacts in this region. Again, more than three quarters of the 400 exhibitors came from abroad. “Against this background, the good visibility of the German Pavilion at a central location really is an added value,” explains Dr. Sven Breitung, speaking for the VDMA Printing and Paper Technology Association.

Hermann Jeremies, who was in Jakarta representing Dienes Werke from Overath in Rheinisch-Bergischer district, confirms that. “We were part of the German joint stand at the IndoPPP for the first time, aiming to gain insights into the Indonesian market and to find a representative there,” he reports, “and we were successful in both respects thanks to the possibility to participate in the German joint stand.”
