Innovia films&rsquo compostable, cellulosebased material, natureflex&trade nvs, is helping to spread the healthy eating message in italian schools. The eu funded &lsquofrutta nelle scuole&rsquo school fruit scheme ensures children aged 611 years old are given individually wrapped portions of fresh organic fruit to enjoy during the school day. The transparent natureflex&trade nvs film used in this application is converted and sold to packers by italian company, corapack srl, founded by massimo radice. Corapack has many years experience in perforating and printing various flexible films. Fabrizio radice, sales manager, corapack, explained &ldquonatureflex&trade nvs was the ideal choice to flow wrap the fruit as it not only protects the product inside, due to its semipermeability to moisture, but also provides good machinability and printability, ensuring a nice pack appearance. In addition the film has excellent environmental attributes such as being compostable and made from renewable resources.&rdquo beginning life as a natural product, wood from managed plantations operating on good forestry principals, fsc or equivalent, natureflex&trade is certified compostable in both home and industrial composting environments and is also suitable for anaerobic digestion. Natureflex&trade offers advantages for packing and converting such as inherent dead fold and antistatic properties, high gloss and transparency, resistance to grease and oil, good barrier to gases, aromas and mineral oils and a wide heatseal range. &ldquowe are very happy to be involved in this project supporting our customer, corapack, who promoted the usage of our natureflex&trade film for the &lsquofrutta nelle scuole&rsquo project. This scheme encourages school children to eat fresh organic fruit, which stays in premium condition due to being wrapped in natureflex&trade,&rdquo enthused giorgio berton, ts&d specialist, innovia films. Natureflex&trade nvs has been specifically formulated to offer improved stiffness under chill cabinet conditions and a controlled level of moisture permeability with a heatsealable conversionfriendly coating on both sides.
