Bangalore, May 19, 2016: Essentra plc, the UK-listed global provider of essential components and solutions, has been delighted to welcome customers to its state-of-the-art 70,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in the Peenya Industrial Area, Bangalore, to showcase its recent expansion in pharmaceutical, health and personal care packaging.

Speaking at the event, PT Sreekumar – Managing Director, Essentra Asia, said the investment to date reinforces the Company’s commitment to India as a manufacturing centre for pharmaceutical, health and personal care packaging to serve both the dynamic domestic sector and the rapidly expanding export market.

“Pharmaceutical, health and personal care packaging is a key strategic growth opportunity for Essentra and, having completed the acquisition of the pharmaceutical packaging assets from Kamsri Printing & Packaging Pvt. Ltd. at the end of January this year, we have not only already transferred the relevant equipment – but also installed a second carton manufacturing line – to ensure that we are optimally positioned to serve our customers in the strategically important market in India.

With a consequent doubling in headcount at our Peenya facility – which is already accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards - Essentra’s investment to date underscores our view of India as a compelling manufacturing location, with a reliable and accessible labour force and competitive input costs.  As the Company looks to further reinforce its presence in the Asia region in general, I am excited about the breadth of capabilities which the global Essentra Group can deliver from our Peenya site - both to our international and domestic customers.”

A Narayanaswamy, General Manager – Essentra India, added:

“Our “customer connect” event has been a great opportunity to showcase the range of Essentra’s global pharmaceutical, health and personal care specialist secondary packaging capabilities. These extend beyond folding carton to product literature, labels and foils – alongside the important security and brand authentication features, increasingly required by regulatory authorities and in which Essentra is already renowned as a global leader in other end-markets.”

Essentra first entered the Indian market in 1994 through a joint venture of its Filter Products activities with ITC, since when it has enjoyed a highly successful, synergistic alliance, with Essentra working closely with ITC to bring the latest filter innovations to the Indian market to meet the needs of an increasingly demanding customer.  Established as an independent company since 2000, Essentra is recognised as a leading manufacturer and supplier of pressure-sensitive tear tape to the consumer goods and retail sectors, as well as porous components – such as ink reservoirs and nibs - to the writing instruments industry.  It is also a leading manufacturer and distributor of a comprehensive range of plastic injection moulded, vinyl dip moulded and metal items for a variety of applications in diverse industrial markets.

Already serving multi-national customers in ten countries in the region, Essentra’s objective is to remain at the forefront of the industries it serves, in terms of providing a comprehensive product offering, compelling value proposition and excellent service.

Essentra’s India site forms part of its global network of around 9,000 employees in 33 countries, with 53 principal manufacturing facilities, 64 sales and distribution operations and five research and development centres.
