In a significant move towards sustainable packaging, Xact Prepack, a leading UK packaging solutions provider, has partnered with Italian manufacturer Frutmac to introduce a range of 100% recyclable cardboard trays and punnets tailored for the UK's fresh produce and food sectors.

Innovative Packaging for Diverse Needs

The collaboration brings forth packaging options crafted from materials like conventional corrugated board and sustainable grass paper. Designed to cater to a wide array of products—from fresh fruits and vegetables to baked goods—these trays and punnets can be customized with features such as PET coatings, lids, and various presentation options. Frutmac also offers bespoke printing capabilities, allowing businesses to enhance their brand presence directly on the packaging.

Integration of Advanced Machinery

Beyond the packaging materials, this partnership provides UK businesses access to Frutmac’s state-of-the-art automated packaging machinery. This integrated approach streamlines the entire packaging process, from product filling to final presentation, all while utilizing sustainable materials.

Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

Paul Bennion, Director at Xact Prepack, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “With increasing pressure on businesses to adopt environmentally sound practices and the ongoing focus on reducing plastic waste, the demand for high-quality, recyclable alternatives is clear. Frutmac’s innovative range, including their adaptable trays and punnets, aligned with their advanced machinery, perfectly complements our existing portfolio, enabling us to offer a truly comprehensive and sustainable packaging proposition to the UK food industry.”

Echoing this sentiment, Matthias Alber, Head of Sales at Frutmac, stated: “Partnering with Xact Prepack represents an exciting opportunity for Frutmac to introduce our cutting-edge sustainable packaging solutions to the UK market. Our range of trays, with their adaptability and customization options, coupled with our automated machinery, provides a compelling, eco-friendly choice for a wide variety of food products.”

Aligning with Global Sustainability Goals

This partnership reflects a broader industry shift towards reducing plastic use and improving the environmental impact of packaging in the food supply chain. By combining Xact Prepack’s deep understanding of the UK market with Frutmac’s expertise in recyclable packaging and automation, the collaboration aims to deliver significant value to the UK food sector.
