Why Tylenol Bottles Are Difficult To Open

It takes quite an effort to open a new package of tylenol. It has a cardboard packaging, pushandtwist top and safety seal. In the past, you just had to pop the cap. Thirty years earlier, in the suburbs of chicago, seven people consumed poisoned tylenol and died. The nation was shocked, and pharmacies panicked and took off tylenol from the shelf. That area&rsquos firefighter and one of the first investigators of the tylenol murders, richard keyworth, confirmed that investigators learnt that the poison was hidden in bottles of tylenol. However, it is unclear about how the poison reached in them and how many were at risk. As tylenol was a medicine for almost everything, people became helpless without it. He further questioned that if this medicine can&rsquot be trusted, what can be trusted. Investigators further claimed that probably the poison was inserted in the bottles when they were already placed on store shelves. About 100 million worth of tylenol was recollected by johnson & johnson. There were no charges for this crime. The case has been reopened by the fbi and new technology is being used by investigators for finding dna evidence. In 1982, in the process of mark mandell completing his pharmacy school in chicago, the tylenol murder story broke. He stated that people were afraid to consume any medicine for some time. He further said that they had to try hard to convince people, but they weren&rsquot confident themselves, as it was not known to anyone about who was the attacker, and the reason of the motive, but it was right there. Overthecounter drug packaging had new regulations, because of these deaths. A federal antitampering law was soon passed by the congress and the fda. Mandell concluded that now, there can be no confusion about handling a broken seal product, as it is evident that something is wrong and it shouldn&rsquot be used. As time passed by, tylenol resumed its status as a household name. A university of new mexico marketing ethics professor, o.c. Ferrell, said that the tylenol case was handled by johnson & johnson in a way that continues to be considered as textbook crisis management. He said that when a company is as good as johnson & johnson, it should believe that it will make no sense in the long run, if the brand name and integrity of its reputation is harmed. Now the main issue for most tylenol users is the problem of opening the bottle. Source of information httpwww.wfae.orgpostwhytylenolbottlesarehardopen
