What Are Fertilizer Bags Made Of?

There are many factors that combine together for the choice of material. Some of these factors are availability of materials, environmental concerns, type of fertilizer, customer prefrence, cost and others. Currently plastic bags and burlap sacks are the most popular for fertilizers. Burlap sacks have been around for a long time and still going strong. At the same time, the use of plastic bags is increasing. Plastic bags look better than burlap sacks, do not chemically react with the fertilizers, are environment friendly, and can be customized according to the requirements of manufacturers or customers.

Despite plastic bags wooing an increasing number of manufacturers, inertia has kept burlap sacks a popular packaging medium for fertilizers. They have been around for many decades, and their use (albeit much reduced) will continue for the foreseeable future. Burlap sacks are heavy and strong. They provide a good protection against environmental and physical hazards. They are not easy to break or puncture. On the downside, these bags are expensive to produce. It takes more labor and resources than stand up pouch bags to produce them.

Even though stand up pouches have a big cost advantage over burlap sacks, this is not the only reason behind their popularity. Stand up pouches are made from a combination of plastic and other laminate materials. All these laminate layers of different types are fused together to create a strong barrier. Manufacturers have devised different packaging processes, but nearly all of them prefer multi-layered pouch bags. Several layers provide security to the packaged product. StandUpPouches.net's stand up bags are puncture resistant. In other words, they are capable of protecting fertilizers under rough handling and storage conditions. Plastic bags can even protect fertilizers under torrents of rain. Burlap sacks are incapable of doing that. In other words, these bags provide more protection at a lower price. No wonder many manufacturers are turning to them.

In addition to that, stand up pouches are print friendly. StandUpPouches.net has a design team that can create nearly any kind of art work. The rotogravure printing technique used at our company creates an artwork on stand up pouches in bold and crisp colors. With special printing technology, we can print even the most intricate designs in several different colors. This level of freedom in artwork and design is not possible with burlap sacks.
