The pharmaceutical packaging space of walmart continues to support patient compliance and sustainability. As noted in a press release of september 24, entitled, &ldquoecosliderx adds 5,600 u.s. Retail pharmacies including walmart stores,&rdquo keystone folding box co.&rsquos ecosliderx will arrive at is walmart&rsquos pharmacies. It is a more environmentally sustainable pharmaceutical compliance package as compared to traditional packs. Ecosliderx was introduced in late 2011, is senior friendly and attains an f1 childresistance rating for easeofuse and customer safety, which are two challenges for products that are environmentally sustainable in the pharmaceutical industry.

The vice president of pharmacy merchandising for walmart, sandy kinsey says that walmart is dedicated to providing quality patient care and has proven that these endeavors are aided with adherence packaging. Last december, the contract pharmaceutical packager, based in st. Louis, legacy pharmaceutical co., was reported by healthcare packaging, to have investments in automated blister lines for ecosliderx pharmaceuticals pack.

The st. Louis business journal reported an online story on march 21, 2010, wherein legacy pharmaceutical packaging has increased its investments on packaging equipment investments as national pharmaceutical retailers were attracted to its business, such as walmart, costco, cvs, and walgreens. In the story, there is a quote from legacy&rsquos founder, wayne welborn, saying that they had moved from good growth to fiery growth when a way was found by them for marketing directly to retailers and presenting to them how to sell prepackaged pharmaceuticals and save their pharmacies. 15 scripts an hour can be done by a good pharmacist.

The packaging lines of legacy fill 100 tablets, each of prescription pharmaceuticals, in 6,000 bottles that are ready to sell with an almost zero error rate. It was specified in the article that new packaging lines would raise the capacity of legacy by 50 percent approximately, which would go from 38 million units to 60 million. The press release stated, in a recent independent survey, that ecosliderx was successful in being tested among pharmacists and consumers for various factors that include ease of opening, safety and compliance, environmental, and ease of transport and storage.
