uk &ndash consumers are now more easily able to spoon or sprinkle their favourite spices into recipes or onto served meals as a result of the introduction of an ingenious new dual feature cap produced by rpc containers halstead.the injection moulded gloss black pp closure has been developed for the bristol uk based bart ingredients company, whose range incorporates over 350 spices, herbs and pastes, and was part of a general repackaging programme initiated towards the end of 2012. this followed consumer research which found that customers considered the awkward shape of most spice jars a hindrance to their particular cooking styles.the resulting &lsquospoonkler&trade&rsquo design &ndash claimed to be an industry first &ndash features a flip top cap that can be opened in two ways, either to reveal a collection of small holes through which the product can be sprinkled or else a full opening wide enough to fit a teaspoon. to allow for that degree of versatility the design required the inclusion of opposing side hinges in turn necessitating special tooling to ensure that the unit could run on rpc halstead&rsquos highspeed capping lines.&ldquoour development team was made up of enthusiastic cooks both from within bart and our agencies, so in conjunction with our consumer research it meant that we were in a great position to make sure that the spoonkler&trade is versatile and userfriendly to suit all cooking techniques&rdquo, explains bart&rsquos head of marketing camilla bond.the repackaged bart ingredients range is now widely available across most uk retail outlets incl. waitrose, sainsbury&rsquos and tesco.contributed by des king&nbsp
