- Ensure that the tube is cap-side-up when using Smearsafe.

- Holding the Smearsafe cannula parallel to the specimen tube, insert the cannula into the tube septum until it is no longer visible.
- Invert the specimen tube over a glass slide such that the Smearsafe is positioned in the middle of the slide.
