sappi north america launches new labelling solution pkbr staff writer

producer and supplier of paper and packaging products sappi north america has launched lustercote, a superior c1s paper for labels and other related end use applications to cater to global consumer demand.sappi will produce lustercote at its somerset mill in skowhegan, maine and will sell it directly to label printers and converters. the product has been fully qualified by leading label converters in the us and canada.initially, lustercote will be made available in both 55lb and 60lb basis weights.sappi north america executive vicepresident of the coated business and chief sustainability officer jennifer miller said &quotour longstanding experience in packaging gives us confidence that we can meet the growing need for superior labeling papers. the introduction of lustercote is a natural extension of sappi&39s packaging line and proof of our commitment to product innovation in response to growing customer demand.&quot&quotin addition to our north american grades, the widerange of specialty packaging grades now available from our alfeld mill in germany, such as algro finess, parade prima and fusion, position sappi to meet the evolving expectations of the north american packaging market.&quotlustercote is made with about 80 renewable energy and available with sfi, fsc or pefc chain of custody certification. some of its key features include excellent runnability and stiffness, as well as superior print performance.sappi&39s import and packaging business commercial director mark odgers said &quotwe are excited about bringing product advantages to the labeling industry that have long been associated with sappi&39s somerset mill. the excellence of our printing surface and superior bulk and stiffness will translate into yield and converting efficiencies and bring real value to the label market.&quotsappi earlier launched lusterprint, a greaseresistant paper used primarily in pet food packaging. foods. but it was also suitable for use in the production of popcorn bags and a variety of other flexible packaging applications.
