Robust RFID Labels

Digital authentication for product and brand protection, interactive user information, communication between the product and medical device or process and logistics optimization: RFID labels from Schreiner MediPharm for pharmaceutical products and medical devices are individually adapted to the primary
container or secondary packaging and offer a wide range of possible applications.
Due to their thin, flexible construction, RFID inlays—in other words the antenna and chip— can be easily integrated into labels for medicine containers, consumer goods or medical devices without impairing the existing design. Of importance in this context is the reliable performance of the label-integrated RFID chips across the entire manufacturing process through to their end use. Particularly the application of RFID labels to round containers with narrow radii, such as vials or syringes, poses a major challenge. Newly developed label designs from Schreiner MediPharm and the selection of suitable inlays are key factors that help avoid potential damage to the RFID tags during manufacturing and handling
 processes.
For successful implementation, the in-house R+D department performs extensive tests to verify the robustness of the RFID labels before the prototypes go into commercial production. Based on the test results obtained, as well as in the customer’s field application, the fact that the special label design enhances the reliability of the RFID chips can be clearly documented. Thus, the functionality from production through to end use is ensured.
As part of a complex total solution it is important to pay attention to the label design and its optimal integration early on. Schreiner MediPharm supports customers particularly in this early

development stage in considering critical aspects and adapting a specific label construction to the desired application and the manufacturing process. As a result, pharmaceutical manufacturers are provided with a reliable solution that supports product and patient safety.
