eaton bray has joined a brand new nationwide recycling scheme that is set up by kenco and terracycle. eaton bray is one of the first places to join this scheme called the coffee packaging brigade. this scheme aims to reduce coffee packaging waste from landfill. villagers now can drop their coffee packaging waste, irrespective of the brand, in the collection box that is placed at the high street in eaton bray. funds are being raised for eaton bray academy for every unit of coffee packaging waste that is collected by the local community. unfortunately, the considerable quantity of coffee packaging waste ends up in landfill. this is because local councils don&rsquot have the facility to recycle mixed plastics. as the waste is recyclable, kenco partnered with terracycle to start the coffee packaging brigade with an initial 100 locations that are spread across the uk. the aim is to facilitate communities such as those around the eaton bray area to gather together to divert coffee packaging waste from a local landfill to be recycled, at the same time raising fund for good causes. the collected coffee packaging waste will be used to produce generic plastic products such as waste bins, park benches, and watering cans. terracycle and kenco requested people across the uk to find appropriate locations in their communities that were willing to place a collection box and ask for a space. villager anne johnson made arrangements for a box to be located in eaton bray. people can now drop off their waste coffee bean bags, coffee refill bags, single serving coffee sachets as well as coffee jar lids in the collection box that is located outside the store for 247. mrs. johnson mentions that it is great to see that nisa local have placed a collection box at their store. it lets them to be one of the first communities to be able to recycle coffee packaging waste in the uk. two terracycle points are gained for the weight of every coffee packaging unit that is returned, with every point being exchangeable for a one pence contribution. she further said that all the raised money will go to eaton bray academy for the school&rsquos project where children help to grow vegetables and fruit that are used in the school kitchen. hence, they encourage local people to drop all their coffee packaging waste in the recycle bin and advise all their family as well as friends to do the same. along with the aim of saving as much coffee packaging waste from landfill as possible, this initiative also aims at raising maximum possible fund for the school. source of information httpwww.leightonbuzzardonline.co.uknewslocalnewsschoolwillbenefitfromnewrec…
