polyone corporation has launched geon bio flexible solution, formulated with a bioderived plasticiser and in compliance with phthalaterestrictive regulations, such as california&39s prop 65 and cpsia. consumer, healthcare, transportation and building products manufacturers now have a material that offers excellent performance and sustainability in one, costeffective, vinylbased material package. geon bio materials are formulated with polyone&39s plantbased reflex 300 plasticizer. this creates a truly nonphthalate flexible vinyl that performs at levels equal to or better than materials containing petroleumbased plasticizers.&nbsp concerns about phthalates are well documented and with the entire category under scrutiny, current industry practice has been to label products containing terephthalates, thought by many to be safe, as &ldquononphthalate&rdquo or &ldquophthalate free&rdquo in order to avoid unnecessary deselection. &ldquoconsistent with the polyone no surprises pledge, reflex 300 materials have been tested and certified by the united states department of agriculture&rsquos biopreferred&reg program to be 99 percent biobased.&nbspcompared to other flexible vinyls, geon bio materials feature a wider processing window and enhanced thermal stability, which may reduce production costs by improving manufacturing efficiency. in addition, specific healthcare formulations are precertified to meet biocompatibility requirements for united states pharmacopeia usp class vi protocols.
