plastic packaging design today threatens updated eu recycling targets. recycling of plastic packaging does not start with collection but design. today, packaging design is focused primarily on enhancing the performance. deliberate design often leads to unfinished emptying of a package and what about diverse combinations of materials polymers which are not compatible for an efficient recycling process the recent challenge should be that ability to recycle becomes a need wholly equal to the other performance criteria. this will also help to avert substantial amount of plastics away from landfill and ignition into recycling, therefore, shifting them to a higher category as per the eu waste hierarchy. plastics recyclers europe consider that the implication of an eu classification system will help designers in evaluating their manufacturing from a point of view of recyclability, along with this, it will help them in selecting the ideal options to improve their class. recyclass&trade as a general market approach will develop existing design for recycling guidelines. it will also provide an easy way to determine the class of recyclability of any plastic package, depending on a scale from a to g seven classes equivalent to efficiency classes of eu energy. paolo glerean heads pre&rsquos task force of packaging design. paolo further mentioned that many months ago they started working on this assignment. currently the first draft of their model is being tested in numerous technical institutes in various european countries. he further mentioned that their goal is to launch the recyclass&trade tool in a special event at interpack in duesseldorf that will take place in may 2014. plastics recyclers europe has invited all concerned parties to join recyclass&trade as well as to boost plastic recycling throughout the europe. source of information httpwww.plasticsrecyclers.eunewstodayplasticpackagingdesignthreatensneweure…
