Oberdiessbach, Switzerland –Neopac, a global provider of high-quality tube packaging for a broad array of industries and applications, won the Personal Care/Cosmetics category of the first-ever PackExpoTechnology Excellence Awards. Thedistinction recognized Neopac’s Polyfoil® Twist’n’use™ Tube, which offers unique protection against light, air, water vapor diffusion and substance migration. The tube solved Biopelle Inc.’s packagingchallenges for its high-potency Tensage® Intensive Serum 50 skin care product.

After months paring down an impressive roster of qualified entries, three days of onsite voting allowed those attending Pack Expo and its sister show, Healthcare Packaging Expo, to be the ultimate judge of the event’s most innovative new technologies. In all, winners were selected for seven categories.

Biopelle conducted a worldwide search for a unit-dose package that could meet all requirementsfor protecting its skin damage treatment – a high-potency serum comprising rare natural oils, secretions and incipients. Of critical importance was compatibility between the formula and primary packaging materials, as well as a package design combining aesthetics with ease of use. Specifically, the package needed to allow consumers to dispense product without removing any part of the container.

Neopac’s solution was novel indeed: To form the tube for Tensage® Intensive Serum 50, ten individual 1.5ml Polyfoil® ampoules are inserted into a custom thermoformed package. Twisting the cap releases the inner tamper-evident pin, allowingproduct to flow through the transparent nozzle.

“Biopelle found all the characteristics we were looking for in Neopac’s Polyfoil® Twist’n’use™ tube,” said Jenell Chubb, Director of Operations at Biopelle, “and we were extremely pleased with the way Neopac worked with us to meet the compliance and quality levels desired.”

“Neopacconducted compatibility studies to select the ideal material needed to protect the formula and guarantee the required shelf life,” said Mike Larson, Sales Manager Neopac US Inc.“We also worked closely with Biopelle’s graphic group to meet the challenge of combining the offset surface printing of the yellow box with the custom silver tube body for a branded design, and they were extremely pleased with the result.”
