opengate capital, a global private buyout firm, has acquired ds smith packaging papeterie de nantes sas nantes mill from ds smith, a global provider of corrugated and plastics packaging.located in nantes, france, nantes mill is a producer of white top testliner paper, which is used in a variety of packaging applications. made from 100 recycled fiber, the testliner offers quality and printability in a wide grammage and trim range.under the deal, the mill will continue to supply materials to its former parent company, ds smith, and will expand its customer base throughout france and europe, over time and under opengate&39s ownership.opengate capital partner overseeing all european investments julien lagrèze said "the acquisition of the nantes mill is a direct result of nearly a yearlong discussion with ds smith."we were proactive in identifying the mill as a perfect complement to norpaper given its white top recycled testliner production capabilities, particularly with large widths and the business&39s ability to produce testliner iii "brown" that will greatly enhance norpaper&39s product offering."opengate capital european office principal fabien marcantetti said "we will be examining all means to optimize the nantes mill from an operational perspective through synergies with norpaper."terms of the acquisition were undisclosed.
