Notpla boxes have made their debut at The Kia Oval, marking a significant step in the intersection of sports and sustainability. This pioneering initiative offers Surrey County Cricket Club fans an unparalleled sustainable experience as The Kia Oval embraces innovative solutions.

The Kia Oval Embraces Innovation

As a leader in sustainable innovation, we are excited to contribute to Surrey County Cricket Club's ambitious goal of transforming The Kia Oval into a Carbon Neutral Venue by 2030. Emily Iveson-Pritchard, Head of Sustainability at The Kia Oval, remarked, “With Notpla's innovative sustainable packaging, we take another stride towards our Net Zero goals.”

Our seaweed-coated packaging, praised for its unique approach to sustainability, is now featured at one of the world's most iconic cricket grounds. Picture the match-day excitement – the roaring crowd, the scent of freshly cut grass, and the feel of our sustainable Notpla boxes in your hands, adding a new dimension to the cricket experience.

Meeting Consumer Demand for Sustainable Packaging

This significant shift at The Kia Oval aligns with a global trend among consumers seeking transparency in packaging and a guilt-free way to enjoy their food. Notpla seaweed-coated boxes, along with other products, answer this demand.

“By launching Notpla packaging, the Oval is taking a big step in adopting truly sustainable packaging solutions, enabling cricket fans to enjoy their favorite meals without the plastic waste,” said Pierre Paslier, co-founder and co-CEO of Notpla.

The Secret Behind Notpla Boxes

Each Notpla box is lined with our unique Notpla Coating, a seaweed-derived formulation. This coating is grease and water-resistant, like plastic, but offers a different end-of-life scenario: the boxes can be disposed of guilt-free in a home compost.

Our Notpla Coating complies with the EU Single-Use Plastic Directive, which aims to ban synthetic materials like PLA, PHA, and other bioplastics. Our coating contains no plastic or harmful "forever chemicals" like PFA, ensuring no negative environmental impact.

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

In collaboration with Surrey County Cricket Club and our supplier Greenstrand, we aim to redefine the boundaries of sports and sustainability. The Kia Oval's commitment to using Notpla's sustainable packaging in its retail areas reflects this shared vision.

Next time you attend a match at The Kia Oval, you'll be holding one of our Notpla boxes. It's a perfect blend of sustainability and sports, allowing you to support your team and the planet simultaneously.
