McGarlet, a leading Italian company in the import and distribution of exotic fruit were looking for a sustainable tray for their new BioPack line. Their aim was to create a packaging solution that definitively eliminated unrecyclable plastic.
Smurfit worked closely with McGarlet and after an intense design phase, BioPack was developed using Smurfit Kappa Safe & Gree trays using 100% biodegradable materials. A series of infographics were also printed directly on the pack to provide consumer information on the correct disposal of all its components.
Smurfit is delighted to have helped McGarlet launch a line of truly sustainable packaging. All their exotic fruits are packaged in completely biodegradable trays, composed of material that comes from FSC certified well managed forests and other controlled sources. All labels and clingfilm are fully compostable and disposable in organic waste.
