Lind & Lime combats packaging waste

By PC Correspondent on Wed, 11/27/2024 - 10:53

According to a GWP 2023 report, Brits use an estimated 227,000 miles of wrapping paper each year. Lind & Lime’s furoshiki wrap offers a zero-waste alternative to gift boxes.

Available in two patterns and made from 100% organic cotton, the gift can be tied into a scarf, hair accessory, bag, or pocket square once it is unwrapped.

Fraser Walker, sustainability executive at Lind & Lime, said: “Being organic accredited, B Corp and produced using 100% renewable energy, sustainability is at the heart of Lind & Lime.

“While we already use recycled glass for our bottles, we wanted to take this one step further and look at a way we can make a difference with our secondary packaging, too. We settled on furoshiki, the centuries-old tradition of eco-friendly gift wrapping in Japan, and designed a stylish bespoke 100% cotton wrap, blending the elegance of this traditional Japanese art with the aim of raising awareness about the vast amount of wrapping paper waste.”

The furoshiki wrap follows Lind & Lime’s organic certification in 2023, while it also became the fourth Scottish gin to achieve B Corp accreditation earlier this year.

Walker continued: “Each wrap can be reused, repurposed, and loved for years, keeping unnecessary packaging out of the bin and giving you something beautiful to hold on to or pay forward. In a time when regifting is becoming more popular, what better way to present a gift than with a versatile, reusable furoshiki wrap that adds both meaning and sustainability.”

Furoshiki-wrapped bottles of Lind & Lime are available from The Leith Export Co for £42 (US$56).
