Researchers from IIT Roorkee and Afflatus Gravure Private Limited, Noida, created an environment-friendly technology for flexible printing. In accordance with a licencing agreement signed in front of IIT Roorkee Director Professor KK Pant, other representatives of the company, and the research team, the institute has transferred the two innovations to a reputable packaging company.

The technology was created by Dr. Anurag Kulshreshtha, Professor Millie Pant, Professor YS Negi (Rtd. ), of IIT Roorkee, and Arun Pandey of Afflatus Gravures Pvt Ltd, in Noida. The technique is helpful for flexible packaging and will also be a sustainable choice.

The application process for a technology patent is already underway at IIT Roorkee. The Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, and Afflatus Gravure Private Limited, Noida, collaborated on a project that resulted in the development of the technology.

The project's goal was to provide a printing solution that was very cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and sustainable. And so, the water-based printing ink is created for rotogravure printing on flexible packaging.

The IIT Roorkee research team created the water-based solution to address the issue of lowering carbon footprint and VOCs to promote green solutions, which will serve as the standard for green manufacturing systems in printing applications and lead to an environment-friendly solution and a sustainable society.
