successfully relaunched its leading luncheon meat and high pork products in newly designed twopiece aluminium rectangular can closed with an easy peel end generating consumer interest and creating shelf impact in a competitive domestic market. &nbspthe deepdrawn process is carefully controlled to produce a straightsided can with a shouldera design feature that also aids meat release. the can is closed with a printed easy peel end in which the aluminium foil is bonded to a polypropylene sublayer and is specifically designed for heat processing of the product. &nbspnew designs were recognized by the industry at the cans of the year 2006 award ceremony held at the canmaker summit in dolce sitges, spain, in october, receiving the gold award for food twopiece cans.&nbsplighter and lighter pet engineering has halved the weight of its bottles to five grams, for a capacity of 100 milliliters. the new containerintended for dairybased and functional drinkswas designed in partnership with the canadian company husky injection moulding systems, the american firm invista and sleever international for the decoration. the new singleserve bottle is extremely light, allowing a weight reduction of around two grams compared to similar containers in todays market, and bringing a net decrease in production costs and in the containers impact on the environment. the most critical consideration in the definition of this container involved the planning of the preform, for which a tailormade design was developed undertaken by husky in collaboration with pet engineering, allowing the weight to be reduced to a minimum while maintaining excellent technical performance. the new bottle has been designed in two versions one in pet and the other in polyshield pet resin. furthermore, from a technical point of view, a special snapon cap has been developed, which allows the weight to be further reduced by sealing the container with aluminium film.&nbsplaticrete international wins haver 2006
