it will now influence the food packaging and selling of food products in france. france has permitted a ban on the use of bisphenol a in food contact materials. the law states that there will be a ban on the export, import, manufacture, and commercialization of all types of food packaging containing bisphenol a. according to agranet, the chemical will no longer can be used in any food contact materials. bpa is a chemical, which is believed to have negative effects on the nervous system and brain, and in 2010, france had already forbidden its use in baby bottles. along with france, this ban exists in many other countries, as well. this new law of the ban in france takes effect in this year. at this time, bpa will no longer be able to be used for packaging food items for kids up to age of three. according to afp, by jan. 1, 2015, the rest of the ban will be applicable for all other food contact packaging. according to prw, plasticseurope pointed out that this new law, which forbids bpa to be used in food packaging, has no advantage for consumers and will harshly disfigure the internal market. according to the organization, bpa does not pose any health risks. as reported by digital journal, in 2010, the canadian government announced bisphenol a toxic. digital journal also stated on the u.s. opinion of the bpa controversy, even though, despite concerns, the chemical will not be forbidden across the board in america. however, few individual companies are making a decision of eradicating the chemical from storage containers or food packaging. plasticseurope also claims that french lawmakers are ignoring european union regulations on bpa which could result in further conflicts. source of information httpwww.digitaljournal.comarticle338959
