Formic Surpassed 200,000 Production Hours, Hosted First Automation Community Event

Formic, a leading Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) automation provider for U.S. manufacturers, reached a major milestone in 2024, surpassing 200,000 production hours. This achievement meant Formic’s robotic automation fleet was delivering the equivalent of five months of human labor every business day. To celebrate, the company hosted its first Formic Automation Community event on January 23, 2025, at its Chicago headquarters, in partnership with the Chicagoland Food & Beverage Network.

“When we founded Formic in 2020, it took us over two and a half years to reach 50,000 production hours. Since then, every milestone came faster than the last,” said Saman Farid, CEO of Formic. “For comparison, increasing from 150,000 to 200,000 production hours took just 94 days, with our robots maintaining 99.8% uptime. This growth reflected the rising market demand for automation. By hosting this event, we aimed to help more businesses embrace automation in the new year.”

Driving the Future of Automation

The Formic Automation Community event brought together industry leaders to discuss how automation was enhancing production efficiency, reducing reliance on temporary labor, improving workplace safety, and lowering operational costs. Attendees heard real-world automation success stories, experienced live robot demonstrations, and calculated real-time ROI to see how Formic’s Full Service Automation model was transforming production floors—without requiring upfront capital investment or specialized automation expertise.

“It was no surprise that Formic experienced such rapid growth in robot usage hours,” said Alan Reed, Executive Director of Chicagoland Food & Beverage Network. “Formic offered what no other automation company did: a fully predictable cost structure covering labor, maintenance, and spare parts. Plus, their model allowed for unlimited production scaling without marginal or incremental costs—something unheard of in this industry.”

Formic’s 2024 Milestones

Alongside surpassing 200,000 production hours, Formic also achieved several key benchmarks in 2024:

✅ 1.2+ billion products packed and stacked by Formic robots
✅ 180% growth in market demand
✅ 99.8% uptime across its automation fleet
✅ 98% contract renewal rate, reflecting high customer satisfaction

With automation demand continuing to surge, Formic set new industry standards, empowering manufacturers with accessible, cost-effective automation solutions. The Formic Automation Community event marked another step in its mission to revolutionize production floors across the U.S.
