flexcon unwraps a new product to keep stored items fresh

new resealing product from flexcon is used to keep food fresh. submitted photoby susan gonsalves correspondentadd a commentspencer &mdash a coated film with builtin components to keep food fresh and wet wipes moist is the latest product launched by flexcon, a global adhesive coating and laminating company in spencer.michelle lamontagne, market development specialist in the product identification division, said that optiflex reseal barrier clear is a natural extension of other resealable packaging items.what makes the polyvinylidene chloridecoated film beneficial, she said, is that the polypropylene serves as a barrier against moisture to prevent nuts, snack foods and other contents from going stale. it is also designed to retain moisture and prevent drying of meats, produce, cheeses and wet wipes, she said.&quotconsumers will have that reassurance that the food or wipes are in the condition they were meant to stay in,&quot ms. lamontagne said.she said the product is tear resistant, durable and allows the packaging to be opened and closed repeatedly and easily.&quotthere&39s a growing demand in the food market for packaging materials that increase shelf life,&quot ms. lamontagne said. &quotresealable packaging has become very popular not only for wet and dry wipes, but with manufacturers of food packaging materials.&quot&quotthis product is a prime example of flexcon&39s efforts to address the changing needs of the markets we serve.&quotshoppers likely have seen labels made by flexcon in grocery stores at the edge of shelves to denote prices. the company also provides materials used in electronics, graphic applications and the medical industry. &quota lot of our materials can be found in branding and promotion,&quot on a consumer level, she said. examples include restaurant menu boards, billboard signs, window advertising and messages on the sides of buses.in addition to its spencer location, flexcon has manufacturing facilities in columbus, nebraska, and glenrothes, scotland, plus distribution centers across north america, europe and asia.the privately held, familyowned company with more than 1,000 employees will celebrate its 60th year in business in 2016.&nbsp
