however, raisin social has announced this month that packaging of wines in tetra pak cartons will be done in the uk. the recent collaboration of greencroft bottling and tetra pak was first benefited by the uk wine importer, and two prominent south african producers, namaqua wines and du toitskloof, are working with it for packaging their wines in tetra prisma aseptic 75cl cartons. consumers have practical benefits, and the commercial and environmental advantages are the main drivers as per namaqua wines and du toitskloof to adopt cartons. the wine producers can naturally progress with the extension of both ranges into cartons. consumers are enthusiastic about wine packaging with convenient and lightweight formats, and this is noticed by wine producers. md of raisin social, simon halliday, elaborated that a new and attractive offer for uk shoppers is the introducing these famous wines in cartons. instead of wine in glass bottles, cartons have the advantages of being lighter easy to use, can be resealed and recycled, as well. they are confident that this format of wine will be extremely famous for all uk consumers. strengthening in uk for the first time, du toitskloof will introduce two fairtrade wines solely in waitrose, which are the crisp and refreshing chenin blanc sauvignon blanc white and the rich and fruity cabernet sauvignon merlot red. waitrose wine buyer, katie mollet, proudly stated that they are pleased to launch these two highclass wines through the esteemed du toitskloof coop with this revolutionary packaging format. the wines are fairtrade and the cartons are better than boxes that an ethical retailer seeks. they are excited about being the leaders of such packaging innovations and anticipate the enjoyment of their customers benefiting with wine in tetra pak. 100,000 tetra pak cartons of wine will be distributed from the initial filling production of namaqua to outlets throughout the nation that include budgens, costcutter, londis and nisa. selected catering and outdoor events will also receive the distribution. from september, about 20 of uk offtrade customers will receive the first distribution of a crisp and refreshing chenin blanc sauvignon blanc and a rich shiraz cabernet sauvignon. nearly 10 of still wines have carton packages worldwide and are specifically a favourite in chile and argentina. in recent times, the trend is being followed by traditional european markets like spain, portugal and italy. a study recently reported in uk by wine intelligence showed that an increase of 66 of consumers were likely to purchase wine in cartons from 40 of likelihood as consumers see, feel and experience this format of wine packaging. lowcarbon raw materials, which mainly contain paperboard of wood that is a natural and renewable resource, are used for making tetra pak cartons. in 2011, tetra pak cartons that sold in the uk market were produced with over 75 of the paperboard which was certified by fsc forest stewardship council. this indicates that responsibly managed forests were the source for the wood used to produce cartons. therefore, the wine industry has chosen a renewable packaging solution in the form of cartons. httpwww.thedrinksreport.comfull.articlespackaging.folderpackaging2012full.0…
