however, the study also indicates that the buyers are confused about which type of packaging is the best for the environment. these outcomes are published in a study done by the new jersey based marketing firm perception research services. the study also reveals that, in 2011, 36 buyers were interested in buying environment friendly packed goods. in 2010, only 29 shoppers were paying attention to packaging material. about more than half shoppers polled during the study showed willingness to pay more for the eco friendly packaging. one third of them bought more products that were labelled with &ldquomade from recyclable material&rdquo or &ldquorecyclable&rdquo. about a quarter of the total polled shoppers switched to the brands that use eco friendly packaging for their products. study also found that one among the five shoppers mentioned that packaging didn&rsquot contain sufficient environmental information and gave confusing claims. many buyers mentioned that they were unaware about which is the best packaging for the environment. the packaging labelled with &quoteasier to recycle&rdquo, &quotmade from recycled materials&rdquo, &ldquorecyclable&rdquo or with recycling marked, had a major impact on the buying behaviour of the customers. however, packaging, which claimed that it has used least material, did not much influence the buying behaviour of customers. consumers were keener than previously to know about if the packaging material is recyclable while making a purchase. during 2008 to 2010, only 17 customers were interested in checking if the packaging is made of recyclable material. however, in 2011, the figure was raise to 23. perception research services&39 executive vice president jonathan asher mentioned that they are seeing a big scope for manufacturers who provide eco friendly and value added packaging for their target customers. he further added that manufacturers, in the name of environmentally packaging, are using thinner, and smaller packaging just for the sake of saving money are tasting the shoppers&rsquo goodwill. perception research services has been conducting researches on the consumer attitudes about packaging and the environment since 2007. perception research services has many renowned clients such as and johnson &amp johnson, and hewlett packard. in 2011, for the study on packaging and the environment, one thousand consumers were surveyed across the country. source of information httplatimesblogs.latimes.comhomeblog201203ecofriendlypackaging.html
