netherlandbased packaging company budelpack poortvliet has acquired a new bosch machine for the vertical forming, filling and sealing of transwraps as well as standup, block bottom and quadrosealed pouches.the company already has a multihead filler and the combination of this with the new equipments wil be used to pack chocolates, confectionary, nuts and snacks.with the new machines, the facility will be able to package a wider range faster and more efficiently. it will also expand its backup capacity.the newly acquired vertical formfillseal machine vffs machine provides additional advantages in comparison to the horizontal version as it packages loose items faster, more costeffectively and can process approximately 10 to 25 million pouches a year.the vffs machine also makes gas flushing easier which results in vertically formed packaging with a minimal residual oxygen level that prolongs products&39 shelf life. a low residual oxygen level is harder to achieve with a horizontal machine due to the open filling process.this new packaging line will be operational in january 2015.besides expanding budelpack&39s packaging options from the vertical formfillseal machine will also expand its backup function.the company said in a statement &quotmany chocolate, confectionary and snack manufacturers package their loose items using comparable machines. in the event of a shortage of internal packaging capacity they expect to be able to rapidly avail themselves of external backup capacity. by using the same machine and foil as the manufacturers, budelpack can immediately solve any capacity problems the former may experience.&quot&nbsp
