This is a natural fiber compound bottles which look like turned out of wood. This bottle represent a promising alternative to conventional packaging and open up new application possibilities. Many biomaterials have been tested in the past, but all failed to implement serial production.  This project was taken up again, as an employee of the distribution and Compoundierunternehmens WIS Kunststoffe GmbH, Breitungen. The new natural fiber compound (NFC) Polywood introduced in this case is polyethylene having a high proportion of wood fibers.  In contrast to conventional WPC (Wood Plastics Compound) is here about the filler additives chemically coupled to the polymer, and thus part of the matrix, resulting in good flow properties result. Bottles made using wood can save on oil and thus conserve resources by using wood fibre in the plastic granulate. The look and feel of the bottles harmonize perfectly with contents such as nature-based cosmetics or plant-care products. The resulting overall concept was nominated by the jury as an interesting opportunity for further development of sustainable packaging. This bottle is result of close collaboration among WIS plastics, Polywood maker Advanced Compounding GmbH (ACR), Rudolstadt and manufacturer SM Kunststoffverarbeitung. The NF-Compound Polywood is offered in several versions and can be made of different natural fibers. That may be fine wood fibers or other natural fibers such as flax or cellulose. A special variant is the Polywood A special pine wood fibers. This pine wood from European forests has developed the ability in the course of evolution, to protect against a variety of bacteria and fungi and reserves or unfolded this natural effect in natural fiber compound. In this way a product with antibacterial properties is produced without any chemical additives or nanoparticles.  For this material, the SM plastics processing already products blow molding in series.
