perlen converting, a kennett square, pa based company, has launched an optical strip incorporated into its perlalux pvdc and pvc blister films that offers an alternative to safety devices attached into blister foil lidding. in the perlalux identity solution, the hologram strips are placed in between blister cavities without modifying packaging characteristics. they tampering resistant as they are situated in between the cavities. their placement makes it hard to manipulate them. furthermore, they are lacquer coated. fredy brunner is the director of sales for north america. fredy mentioned that the optical strip will be damage immediately if a person tries to rub it off. by building the optical strip in the film, the security feature makes the security tool more noticeable to the consumer opening the package. brunner says that the hologram strip becomes a simply recognized tool for promotion. the strip is very close to the product, where the customer can notice it. for additional branding impact, a company can include its logo. the strips can offer combinations of covert, overt, and machinereadable code elements. by shifting the package, holograms are rendered visible. a laser light can be used for decoding covert elements, similar to used for bank notes. as the strips are placed on the top of the pvdc layer or the mono film without touch with the product, there is no need of the new package stability testing. brunner mentions that the strips don&rsquot have any impact on the film properties, and the process of packaging poses no threat of heatdamage and needs no modification to run the film. strips can be applied with any perlen pvdc or pvc coated film. he further says that, with their ultrahighbarrier starflex film, they are greatly recommending this safety identity feature. companies have used starflex film for moisturesensitive, highvalue products. bilcare inc., which is based in phoenixville, pa, offers the ultra rx, ultra, and patina metalized pvdc materials. the coatings impart diverse shades and colours to the forming web for branding and security functions. the ultra rx and ultra pvdc are situated for barrier needs between 90 g per sq meter and that of foil, says senior vice president of bilcare films and foils, remco van weeren. in india, these films have been proved extremely successful. source of information httpwww.pmpnews.comarticleblisterfilmsaccommodatesecurityfeatures
