ukbased manufacturer of printed cardboard packaging benson group has launched a full range of microwave cooking solutions in collaboration with its parent company graphic packaging international.benson groupthe complete range includes designerware, microflexq, quilt wave, qwik crisp, focus inset carton and microrite.designerware makes use of paperboard and plastic for providing barrier protection to products. the product is manufactured in a range of shapes and sizes and can be printed to maximise graphics and text areas.microflexq is a flexible packaging film for browning and crisping food products. it is said to be printable and moisture and grease resistant. quilt wave has been designed to be used with irregularly shaped food products. qwik crisp works using unique susceptor patterns designed to unique specification which can be used in various formats including cartons and trays.apart from these solutions, the company has also launched focus inset carton which claims to eliminate the need for secondary packaging elements and helps in browning and crisping food.microrite also uses susceptor technology and manages the microwave energy during the cooking process which helps in reducing loss of moisture from product.commenting on this new range, group marketing director, helene roberts said graphic packaging is a worldwide leader in enhanced microwave packaging, with a range of solutions that can be customised to meet individual customers requirements.the microwave cooking solutions now available to benson group are products already commercially available in the us and combine a number of marketleading technologies. this includes the use of materials that have the ability to focus microwave energy exactly where its needed in order to deliver consistent, even heating, steaming or browning and crisping of food.the benson group primarily manufactures packaging for the food industry. currently employing over 800 people in the uk, the company is expected to achieve sales of around 100m in the coming year.source httpwww.packagingbusinessreview.comnewsbensongrouplaunchesrangeofmicrowaves…
