Aptar - Food Protection, a division of AptarGroup, Inc. renowned for its cutting-edge active material science food safety solutions, has secured the exclusive license for manufacturing and distribution of the Halopack Tray system in North America. This innovative system is designed to elevate packaging sustainability across a diverse range of fresh, frozen, reheatable, grab-and-go, and oven-able food applications under the brand Aptar Halopack. Crafted from recycled cardboard and featuring a minimal film component that is easily removable, Aptar Halopack offers a sustainable alternative, with the potential to reduce plastic usage by up to 90% compared to conventional plastic-based trays. Originating from Halopack, a pioneering company based in the Netherlands, this patented solution has already gained significant traction in Europe, with over one billion units sold.

Aptar Halopack stands out for its simplicity, sustainability, and versatility. The paperboard-based tray systems are designed for easy recycling and can be folded flat, optimizing space in recycling bins for consumers. Furthermore, custom printing directly onto the paperboard minimizes the need for additional labels, streamlining the manufacturing process and reducing waste. Engineered to seamlessly integrate with existing top seal and skin pack equipment, Aptar Halopack requires minimal tooling conversion, enhancing operational efficiency.

The versatility of Aptar Halopack extends across various food categories, including dry and high-moisture foods. Available in a range of configurations such as skin pack, clamshell, freezable, microwave and oven-able, and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), these systems cater to the diverse needs of ready meals, grab-n-go foods, fresh produce, proteins, and soups. Particularly noteworthy is the duo-tray configuration, which provides an effective solution for foods requiring multi-compartment structures, such as parfaits or salads.

Manufactured at Aptar - Food Protection’s facility in Atlanta, Aptar Halopack is set to revolutionize packaging in North America. Plans for expansion to other North American locations are underway, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation. Neal Watson, VP and General Manager for Aptar - Food Protection, expressed enthusiasm for the benefits that Halopack brings, emphasizing its role in sustainability and food waste reduction. Aptar – Food Protection will showcase the Aptar Halopack Tray system at Seafood Expo North America in Boston, MA on March 10-12, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about this groundbreaking solution.
