Japan’s Teijin Ltd. will commence production and sale of Tenax carbon fiber made with sustainable acrylonitrile (AN) based on waste and residue from biomass-derived products or recycled raw materials that have received ISCC Plus certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification system. The Tenax carbon fiber under ISCC Plus certification will be produced at Teijin’s Mishima plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, using the mass balance approach.

Following the recent announcement of Kingsmoor's brand refresh and their new strapline, "Forming A Better Future”, this renewable energy project aims to serve as  testament to the company's dedication to this vision. 

The digital deposit return scheme will encourage recycling through a 20p monetary reward for customers who scan one of 20,000 unique QR codes using their smartphones. The QR codes are printed onto Ocado’s own-brand two and four-pint milk bottles – which retail at £1.20 and £1.45 respectively – and are available for delivery nationwide.

The rewards will appear in a digital wallet in the Bower app and then can be withdrawn to their bank accounts. After the first 20,000 scans, consumers will be offered other benefits and perks instead of the 20p reward.

Harpic Hygienic & Fresh Sticker is a toilet block that sits inside-the-bowl (ITB) without the need for a plastic cage or applicator. The brand stated the product will be a game-changer in the category given its reduction in plastic use and is driven by an ambition to make Harpic innovations more sustainable.

With over 40,000 Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) launches monthly across 273+ categories, the competition for shelf placement and consumer attention has intensified. Notably, at the point of purchase, product packaging plays a pivotal role, with 76% of consumers saying it influences their final purchase decisions, while 66% of consumers try new products solely due to their packaging.

The bottles incorporate CleanFlake label technology from Avery Dennison, an Ohio-based label design and manufacturing company, which helps improve the yield of high-quality, good-grade PET in the recycling process. CleanFlake technology is built on a water-based adhesive technology that reportedly separates cleanly from PET during the caustic wash stage of the recycling process. No adhesive residue remains on the plastic, meaning it can be processed into clean, high quality, recycled PET flakes.

This is currently being used in a pilot scheme by a sustainable activewear brand, with plans for a wider roll-out later in the year.

The reusable packaging pouch has the potential to be used over 20 times with consumers encouraged to return the packaging to the retailer after every use. 

It is made from recycled polyethylene (rPET) and is currently available to manufacturers and retailers in three sizes, depending on the size and quantity of items dispatched.
